The Sucker Punch

Life just likes to throw a sucker punch out of the dark.

When school life had just begun and things had attained a sense of normality, tragedy struck from no where.

Who would have expected that a typical dragon boat practice would end up in disaster.

Jason is gone (at the writing of this post), and with him the laughter, wittiness and foul words that brought colour into our lifes.

Its is a touching scene to see so many Chung Ling schoolmates coming together in this time of crisis to keep vigil and pray in silence for the safety of those who are still missing. Even from Singapore, I can sense the grief and hope that is exuded from everyone.

Everyday, on the television, we see simliar accidents, from car wreckages to plane crashes occurring. We see people crying and grieving. From behind the television set, those images seem far off and distant. But now, today, a tragedy has happened within the midst of us. We cannot but empathize with them, pray for them, and cry for them.

Accidents and disasters on the television will no longer seem as distant as before.
